Lent Day 16

Lent Day 16

[Luk 11:1-4 NASB] 1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him,

"Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples."

2 And He said to them, "When you pray, say:

'Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. 3 'Give us each day our daily bread. 4 'And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

Lectio Divina Rhythms/Process (Repeat three times):

(a) Read the Scripture passage outloud ("Lectio")
(b) Read the passage again; Reflect on the focus question below ("Meditatio")
(c) Read the passage again: Respond in quiet prayer/journaling ("Oratio")

1st Reading: What is one word or phrase the Holy Spirit impresses on you? Meditate on that.

lead us not into temptation

2nd Reading: Enter into the Scripture passage. What do you feel? What specific situation in your life today relates? Write down a prayer or pray quietly.

LORD Messiah Jesus; I need YOU to teach me to pray, to pray for me as my high priest, and to pray within me through the presence of the Holy Spirit translating my prayers into YOUR prayers. Give to us the daily needs of our lives as YOUR children. We are straying sheep, Good Shepherd bring us back to YOU. Good Shepherd, lead us out of the traps of the enemy, crush the head of the serpent, give to us merciful spirits that we may be merciful as YOU are merciful to us. Good Shepherd lead us out of temptation and into YOUR kingdom. Your kingdom come and will be done in our lives. Help us now!

3rd Reading: What is God's personal invitation for you from the Scripture? You can write down what God may be saying to you or a prayer of thanks. Or rest quietly in God.
[Psa 23:1-6 NASB]

I the LORD am your shepherd, you shall not want. 2 I, the LORD, make you lie down in green pastures; I, the Lord, lead you beside quiet waters.

3 I the Lord, restores your soul; I guide you in the paths of righteousness For MY name's sake.

4 Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you do not need to fear any evil, for I, the LORD, am with you; MY rod and MY staff, they are there to comfort YOU.

5 I the Living LORD prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies; I, the LORD have anointed your head with oil; your cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow you all the days of your life, And you will dwell in MY house forever.
